My 95,000-word novel, Retribution, is a socio-politically complex thriller in the vein of Frederick Forsyth’s novels, with a hint of the darkly humorous satire perfected by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.

Octavius Cato is a renowned expert on terrorism, but has given up the international consultant business to return home and take care of his schizophrenic mother. Despite his reputation, he feels underappreciated and disrespected in his new role as the municipal emergency manager in his hometown.  But when a terrorist attack on his southern town forces him to practice what he has only preached, he finds that dealing with the mayor’s racism is the least of his challenges.

Over the next 24 hours Octavius will need to save Charleston, South Carolina from chemical attacks, oil tankers exploding, and bridges being deconstructed before it is too late. His ex-lover, TV news darling Olivia Daugherty makes things a little extra difficult for Octavius after she exploits his proximity to the largest terrorist attack since 9/11.

Set against a terrorist whom the reader is forced to empathize with and the evil international cabal using her for financial gains, Octavius must overcome the sins of American history and his own debilitating OCD in this action-packed thriller.
